Sometimes I feel really bad for my older son Tyler. His younger brother Carter has these amazing abilities that he just can't seem to master. Whether it's crossing his eyes, or wiggling his eyebrows, Tyler has not been able to match the incredible talents of his younger brother. What can I say, Carter has been blessed with superhero type skills that will certainly take him far in life.
Take for example his ability to wiggle his nose.
I am certainly not surprised by this, as it seems that Carter can do pretty much anything that I can do. He may look like his mother but when it comes to this simple life skills, this boy is all mine. What this will mean for him later in life who knows, I can't say that I landed my wife due to my ability to wiggle my nose and ears. Or maybe I did.
Tyler on the other hand has the same abilities, or the lack there of, as his mother; he looks like me but he acts like my wife.
Clearly this is something that we are going to have to work on. I would hate for him to be put in a situation later in life where he was asked to perform this simple task.
I've said this before but it really amazes sometimes that these two kids can have the same parents, yet not be have the ability to do the same things. They really do pick up the best traits from both us. Like wiggling your nose, some are more important than others.
What do you notice about your kids?
Oooh kid talents? My younger one is more gifted in that department too - must be the second kid syndrome..
ReplyDeleteTwo of my kids are artistic and love to push my buttons. My oldest is all about sports and actually listening to his pops. lol I have to sit them down now and see who can wiggle their noses.
ReplyDeleteThat is some funny stuff man. Isnt is crazy how all of our kids can each do something that the others cant?
ReplyDeleteIf one of them can, make sure you harness that ability. It will come in very handy one day.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they need to do it to keep with their older siblings talents?
ReplyDeleteyounger one started whistling way before the older one and it drove him totally bonkers. It was kind of funny actually, since usually the younger one was so frustrated at trying to keep up with big brother.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I do one of these post my oldest gets upset that he can't do what his brother does... He wants me to do a post about drawing or building with Legos, two things he can do way better than his little brother. But where's the fun in that right? He can hula hoop though if you recall.
ReplyDeleteI know this sounds weird, but my son's mouth is at least triple the size of my daughters. She still uses baby spoons/forks to eat because even a teaspoon is too big. My son could eat with a spatula. Coincidentally, my daughter doesn't really like food and my son is a bottomless pit.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the video of your son eating with a spatula. THAT would be a great comparison.
ReplyDeleteLOL...I feel that same about my boys...and wonder if my ex was fooling around with the pool boy?
ReplyDeleteWhat about the curling of the tongue? LOL.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we will delve into that in another blog post... Pretty sure they can both do that as my wife and I can both do that.
ReplyDeleteMy older son can make himself look like an alien, kinda Jim Carey style. I'm sure this talent will come in handy later in life.
ReplyDeleteYou never know when something like that will be useful.
