SAME parents two DIFFERENT kids |
Sometimes I do wonder how these two kids came out of the same person. Carter is much crazier and much more athletically built than Tyler, whereas Tyler is more artistic and cerebral than Carter. I guess they are a good balance for each other, at least they haven't killed each other yet. There are certain things that Tyler could do at Carter's age that Carter could not, like reading and drawing pictures. However there is one thing that I noticed Carter could do that Tyler has no shot of getting down.
Notice the eyebrows. Carter can easily make them go up and down. Now my Mother in Law says he has bedroom eyes, but I am not so certain that I want to anoint my four year old Rico Suave. It is quite an ability to have, and one that in the future is surely going to make the women swoon. Tyler on the other hand might have some trouble when it comes to the ladies.
Clearly we have a little bit of work to do on this task. I don't think he is going to make it through life if he keeps trying to move his eyebrows like this. Where he failed at this ability is beyond me, my wife and I can both move our eyebrows up and down. This is really starting to make us question whose child this really is.
What do you notice about your kids?
I think they look alike! They are both adorable happy kids. Carter looks very confident, and as an ole Preschool teacher, those confident ones are the ones that you have to look out for. Tyler on the other hand, out of this 5 second clip, I'm pegging as your clown. I am going to guess, he likes to have fun and can laugh at himself. He CAN raise his eyebrows, they were up the entire time he was busy impersonating a cow chewing cud! Funny as usual you are, and those boys are gorgeous. (We also have 2 completely opposite children
ReplyDeleteThe first thing my younger one could do that the older can't is whistling. It drives my older son nuts that he can't whistle as good as his younger brother.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! I still wonder about the "Pool Man!"
ReplyDeleteWell we don't have a pool, and I mow my own lawn. Hmmm. This is going to be hard to figure out.
ReplyDeleteBeing a parent to twins you would expect them to be able to do the same thing, but like Richard said above it took my son Max about 2 years longer to learn to whistle than it did Alexander, keep in mind these are identical twins, so you would think they would be able to do everything at the same time, but Max is a faster learner when it came to talking, walking etc and Alex took a few days before he even began to try.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, the vids were hysterical. It really is interesting. Between my boys especially, the biggest difference is that 7yo is lightyears ahead of 11yo in most areas, which causes some friction. And 7yo needs music in the background to do his schoolwork, while 11yo is driven to distraction by it. Oy. Enter: headphones.
ReplyDeleteI have a 10 year old that can not whistle, and 6 year old that can! Now I also have one that CAN curl the tongue, and one that can't, but at the moment, I can't remember which is which
ReplyDeleteI just tested and the older one can whistle when he breathes in but not out. Younger one has no idea what whistling is or any idea how to accomplish such task. We need to harness all of these abilities in one SUPERCHILD.
ReplyDeletePrecious!
ReplyDeleteMy twins are night and day as well. One is already 3 inches taller at age 4! It hurts me when people can't even tell they are twins.
One cute thing is winking. Alex mastered both the action and when to use it--he wooed a waitress in Berlin. Jack, on the other hand, closes both eyes in a squinting fashion and rocks his head back. The good news for him is that it is freakin' cute as heck too.
Trying is as cute as actually doing it. We actually get a bigger kick out of Tyler than we do Carter. Who wouldn't? The goofiness of the attempt outweighs Carter's actions any day.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Tyler will be able to land the ladies with his words. Trust me. ;-p
ReplyDeletePeanut has my big toe. It's legendary.
I am guessing you had experience with words huh?
ReplyDeleteAs for me, do you think I landed my wife because I could wiggle my ears and nose?
My daughter and the new "daddy-in-charge (aka stepfather) are currently pulling a wishbone and that wishbone us me. I find it hilarious that she often falls asleep in our bed, dad moves her to her bed, and at some point she almost always comes back to our bed in the middle of the night. I probably should stop her behavior, but deep down I really love the extra cuddles and snuggles. It always makes my heart happy.
ReplyDeleteSomeone get that boy in eyebrow treatment, stat!
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHAHAHA! I can't even begin to go into the differences in my kids - there are too many of them. But, they also came from several different, uh, gene pools. What amazes me though, is that they have maintained the same personalities that they had when I was pregnant with them. My first pregnancy was difficult from the get-go, and she is still difficult. My last one was so easy that I forgot that I was pregnant half the time (force of habit, maybe?) and he's still the easy one to this day.
ReplyDeleteAs for the eyebrow thing - I really have to laugh because I have a defective eyebrow that won't move down. I can move it up, but not down. However, that might have something to do with the 10 (or was it 15?) stitches that I had in it during college to reattach it after I put the lens of my glasses through it....right after my face smashed into the pavement...right after some a-hole pulled his car out in front of me while I was on my bike.
Fun times.
:)

A defective eyebrow? I have never heard of that clinical diagnosis before. My son clearly has two of them. :)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I like to be different. Makes life more interesting.
